From the moment we announced that the 2019 Pinmar Golf would be the last we knew the “Grand Finale” would be an extra special and emotional event.
Over the last 31 years, Pinmar as a company has evolved from a local yacht painting company to become part of a global public company, likewise The Pinmar Golf has changed and developed from a small local tournament in to a much larger international industry event. During this time, we have changed courses and venues a number of times, as well as making adjustments to the format to keep it fresh. However, we have always been mindful of the need to preserve the underlying ethos of the event; the collective, the coming together to socialise and do some good for the community in which we all live and work.
In the same way that we needed the support of our partners and industry colleagues to organise the first event, we were dependent upon the support of our customers, partners and industry colleagues to deliver an event of the size and quality of the Grand Finale, and they did not disappoint.
This year's tournament ran across 17-19 October, thankfully the weather was kind to us and Golf Son Gual was decked in autumnal sunshine throughout the tournament and full of golfers & guests reminiscing about the past and speculating of what will follow. 81 teams of competitive golfers played a Texas Scramble over four sessions across two days, battling it out for prizes such as best industry team, individual prizes such as longest drive and nearest-the-pin, and the prestigious Pinmar trophy went to Sanora as winners of the best yacht team.
We were delighted to welcome back golfing legend and our Pinmar Golf Ambassador, Paul Lawrie OBE, who joined us on the course offering practical advice to passing players. Thanks to our wonderful sponsors all the golf players enjoyed complimentary transport to and from their hotel, a top quality complimentary goodie bag and a complimentary breakfast. The many non-golfers took advantage of the beautiful surroundings, relaxing on the expansive terrace with full bar service and DJ playing.
Once again, the Friday Night VIP party brought together the luminaries of the superyacht industry and the Saturday Brunch was enlivened by the excitement of the Rugby World Cup matches, introduced by Gabby Logan. The weekend culminated with the Awlgrip Prize-giving Gala Dinner at Son Amar, which provided the perfect backdrop to celebrate the 31-year history of this much-loved event with a glittering evening of entertainment. With an incredible live show, the wonderful Function Band and plenty of fundraising expertly hosted by Gabby Logan, it was another memorable evening topped off by the after party well into the early hours.

As well as the huge effort from the Pinmar organising team, the success of The Pinmar Golf relies on the generous backing of its sponsors, many of whom have been supporting the event since its inception 31 years ago. Over 75 different companies from all sectors of the superyacht industry support the tournament each year in a host of different ways and are integral to the large amount of money raised each year.
As always, we are exceedingly grateful for the generosity of our guests who helped us to raise a fantastic €73,213 for the Pinmar Charities Fund. All in all, it was a great finale full of nostalgia and celebration, a truly memorable party to mark the end of an era.
